The Partnership

Digital Print Social Video

Damage-free Command™ Products and 3M CLAW™ Heavyweight Hanging Solutions are designed to enhance consumers’ lives.

These aren’t your run-of-the-mill organizing essentials, and since 2021, The Foundry has been working with 3M to spread that message. Providing actionable ideas and solutions is an integral part of Dotdash Meredith’s DNA, meaning The Foundry can authentically position 3M products as effective, easy to use, and worth the money. Every editorial brand has a unique perspective and voice, so custom content can be tailored to each audience’s specific interests and needs, allowing 3M to be integrated into scenarios that engage and provide real value to readers.

2021: Command and Create

Throughout the inaugural year of The Foundry’s partnership with 3M, the team produced a combination of service-driven print, digital, and social content. The goal? Inspire readers to make the most of every space with damage-free Command™ Products.

In a highly energetic and engaging custom video, Christopher Griffin (AKA the Plant Kween) shared tips for incorporating greenery into any space, while project-driven print and digital content on Real Simple and Parents showed readers how to organize grilling essentials and keep kids’ desks tidy — all with damage-free Command™ Products. One custom-shot advertorial was repurposed into an elevated brand ad, which sparked the idea of refreshing past content to fit within new brands and environments for years to come.

2022: Command Central

The innovative work continued in 2022, when The Foundry turned its focus to increasing brand awareness and supporting consumers as their home needs evolved. Custom imagery, expert talent, and enhanced capabilities (like interactive “how-to” articles and embedded audio clips) took the ever-evolving program to the next level.

Expanding beyond 3M’s core collection of hanging solutions, The Foundry highlighted Command™ Outdoor Hooks in the “Personalize Your She Shed” content, which featured Southern Living contributor Ivy Odom designing a versatile space for gardening and socializing. Concepts like “Flip Your Living Room Into the Ultimate Hangout” for Better Homes & Gardens and “Deck the Walls” for Real Simple taught readers how to hang heavyweight items with the 3M CLAW™ Drywall Picture Hanger.

2023: Command Your Space

The 2023 iteration of the 3M program empowered readers to transform every space through insight-led native content in print, digital, and social environments. The Foundry also introduced different Dotdash Meredith brands like The Spruce and MyDomaine, leveraged even more diverse and influential talent, and made unique consumer experiences a bigger priority to further expand and elevate the partnership.

Seasonal pieces like “Create a Chic Halloween Entrance” for MyDomaine and “How to Style a Holiday Bar Cart” for Southern Living supported consumers as they prepped for various holidays, while casting a Gen Z creator for “How to Decorate a Dorm Room” in Southern Living helped Command™ Brand achieve its goal of reaching a younger demographic.

2024: Hang On to Every Moment

In 2024, The Foundry is creating multi-platform content that shows how damage-free Command™ Products are an integral part of everything, from day-to-day life with your dog to major milestones like college move-in. A mix of new and refreshed native content will ensure Command™ Brand remains front and center during key seasonal moments and reaches new audiences across Dotdash Meredith’s portfolio throughout the year. Because insights from past campaigns and The Foundry’s deep understanding of 3M’s needs continue to inform content executions in real time, the partnership is becoming even more efficient and effective.
