Proto Wins AI-AP’s Best Illustration of 2018

From over 7,000 submissions, two of Proto’s illustrations were chosen to appear in the American Illustration and American Photography’s (AI-AP) American Illustration 38 annual award book. One of the images, by artist Michael Mapes, was created for “Knots in the Family Tree,” Proto’s feature story about using genealogy databases to unlock secrets about major diseases. The other image, by artist Katrin Rodegast, was created for “Hear This,” a feature story about how a wave of research advances are helping people who suffer from hearing loss. The American Illustration 38 book represents the best illustrations from 2018 and the winning collection is presented in print and digital.
