Experience and Explore Canada's Vancouver Island

As our 2017 Destination of the Year, Canada has a lot to offer. From the soaring mountain peaks of the Canadian Rockies to the city streets of Montreal and Quebec city, the country’s distinct landscapes make it a must see for every traveler. And, while we could spend months exploring our northern neighbor, we took to Vancouver Island to give our readers a 360-degree experience like never before.

In partnership with LifeVRTravel + Leisure takes an in-depth look at the island off the Pacific coast. First, we float in Victoria’s Inner Harbour, a port into Victoria, the iconic culturally rich city at the southeastern tip of Vancouver Island.

Next, we head to Clayoquot Sound for a look at the beautiful Meares Island, home to some of the tallest trees in British Columbia. Then it’s on to Tofino, a sophisticated food culture and a dynamic art scene.

Finally, we’re off on a seaplane journey to the majestic Bute Inlet. Just east of Vancouver Island, the 47-mile fjord was cut by glacial erosion over 10,000 years ago. Here you can find wildlife like bald eagles, cougars, sea lions, dolphins, and, most famously, grizzly bears.

All four episodes of “Destination of the Year 2017: Vancouver Island” are now available in the LifeVR app for iOS and Android and in LIFE VR’s Samsung VR channel.
